Description
A simple and hearty ground beef and cabbage skillet recipe that is quick to prepare and full of flavor. Perfect for a comforting weeknight dinner.
Ingredients
1 pound ground beef
1 medium head green cabbage, cored and thinly sliced (about 6 cups)
1 medium yellow onion, diced
3 cloves garlic, minced
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
1/4 cup beef broth
2 tablespoons tomato paste
Instructions
Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
Add the diced onion and cook for 3-4 minutes until softened.
Add the minced garlic and cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
Add the ground beef to the skillet. Cook, breaking it apart with a spatula, until browned and cooked through, about 6-8 minutes.
Drain excess fat from the skillet if necessary.
Stir in the tomato paste, salt, black pepper, smoked paprika, and crushed red pepper flakes. Cook for 1 minute to combine flavors.
Add the sliced cabbage to the skillet and pour in the beef broth.
Cover the skillet with a lid and reduce heat to medium-low. Cook for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the cabbage is tender but still slightly crisp.
Remove the lid and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes to evaporate any remaining liquid.
Taste and adjust seasoning if needed. Serve hot.
