Description
A quick and easy garlic bread recipe using fast rising yeast for soft, flavorful bread in under an hour. Perfect as a side for pasta, soups, or salads.
Ingredients
2 1/4 teaspoons fast rising yeast (one packet)
1 cup warm water (110°F/43°C)
2 teaspoons granulated sugar
2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon salt
3 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
4 cloves garlic, minced
2 tablespoons fresh parsley, finely chopped
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
Instructions
In a small bowl, combine the warm water, fast rising yeast, and granulated sugar. Stir gently and let sit for 5 minutes until the mixture is frothy.
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour and 1 teaspoon salt.
Pour the yeast mixture into the flour mixture and stir until a soft dough forms.
Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead for about 5 minutes until smooth and elastic.
Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for 10 minutes.
Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
On a lightly floured surface, roll the dough into a 10×6 inch (25×15 cm) rectangle.
In a small bowl, combine the melted butter, minced garlic, fresh parsley, garlic powder, and 1/4 teaspoon salt.
Brush the garlic butter mixture evenly over the rolled dough.
Starting from the long side, roll the dough tightly into a log.
Place the dough seam-side down on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Using a sharp knife, make 7 evenly spaced cuts about 3/4 of the way through the log, being careful not to slice all the way through.
Bake in the preheated oven for 18-20 minutes, or until the bread is golden brown and cooked through.
Remove from the oven and let cool for 5 minutes before serving.
