Ingredients

- 8 large eggs
- 2 cups milk
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or your choice)
- 1 cup diced vegetables (bell peppers, onions, spinach)
- 1 cup cooked sausage or bacon (optional)
- 6 cups cubed bread (day-old works best)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, salt, and pepper.
- Add the cheese, vegetables, and cooked meat (if using) to the egg mixture.
- Fold in the cubed bread until well combined.
- Pour the mixture into a greased 9×13 inch baking dish.
- Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour or overnight.
- Bake uncovered for 45-50 minutes or until the center is set and the top is golden brown.
- Let it cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving.
Notes
- This casserole can be made a day in advance for convenience.
