Turkey Dinner for Dogs

  • Total Time: 55 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Description

A healthy and nutritious homemade turkey dinner designed specifically for dogs, featuring lean turkey, wholesome vegetables, and brown rice.

Ingredients

Scale

1 pound ground turkey (lean, 93% lean or higher)
1 cup brown rice, uncooked
2 cups water
1 cup carrots, peeled and diced
1 cup green beans, trimmed and chopped
1/2 cup pumpkin puree (unsweetened)
1 tablespoon olive oil

Instructions

Rinse the brown rice under cold water until the water runs clear.
In a medium saucepan, combine the rinsed brown rice and 2 cups of water. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat.
Once boiling, reduce the heat to low, cover, and simmer for 30 to 35 minutes until the rice is tender and water is absorbed. Remove from heat and let it sit covered for 5 minutes.
While the rice is cooking, heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
Add the ground turkey to the skillet and cook, breaking it apart with a spoon, until fully cooked and no longer pink, about 7 to 10 minutes.
Add the diced carrots and chopped green beans to the skillet with the turkey. Cook for an additional 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the vegetables are tender.
In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked brown rice, cooked turkey and vegetables, and pumpkin puree. Stir well to evenly distribute all ingredients.
Allow the mixture to cool completely before serving to your dog.
Serve the turkey dinner in appropriate portion sizes based on your dog’s weight and dietary needs.
