Description
A quick and easy one pot creamy pesto pasta that’s perfect for a delicious weeknight dinner. This recipe combines tender pasta with a rich and flavorful basil pesto cream sauce, all cooked together in one pot for minimal cleanup.
Ingredients
12 ounces penne pasta
3 cups water
1 cup chicken broth
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1 cup heavy cream
1/2 cup prepared basil pesto
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
2 tablespoons unsalted butter
2 cloves garlic, minced
Fresh basil leaves, for garnish
Instructions
In a large pot, combine the penne pasta, water, chicken broth, salt, black pepper, and minced garlic.
Bring the mixture to a boil over high heat, stirring occasionally to prevent the pasta from sticking.
Once boiling, reduce the heat to medium and cook uncovered for about 10-12 minutes, stirring frequently, until the pasta is al dente and most of the liquid has been absorbed.
Reduce the heat to low and stir in the heavy cream, basil pesto, grated Parmesan cheese, and unsalted butter.
Continue stirring until the cheese and butter have melted and the sauce is creamy and well combined, about 2-3 minutes.
Remove from heat and let the pasta sit for 2 minutes to thicken slightly.
Serve immediately, garnished with fresh basil leaves.
