Ingredients
4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
2 cups marinara sauce
1 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
2 tablespoons chopped fresh basil
1 tablespoon olive oil
Instructions
Lightly season the chicken breasts with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder on both sides.
Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Sear the chicken breasts for 2 minutes on each side until lightly browned. Remove from heat.
Place the seared chicken breasts into the slow cooker.
Pour the marinara sauce evenly over the chicken breasts.
Sprinkle the dried Italian seasoning and crushed red pepper flakes over the sauce.
Cover and cook on low for 4 hours, or until the chicken is fully cooked and tender.
About 10 minutes before serving, sprinkle the grated Parmesan cheese over the chicken and sauce in the slow cooker. Cover and let the cheese melt.
Garnish with chopped fresh basil before serving.
Serve the chicken marinara over cooked pasta, rice, or vegetables as desired.
