Description

A simple and delicious recipe for classic Swedish meatballs, perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/2 pound ground pork
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground allspice
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, ground pork, breadcrumbs, milk, onion, egg, salt, pepper, allspice, and nutmeg. Mix until well combined.
  2. Form the mixture into small meatballs, about 1 inch in diameter.
  3. In a large skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Add the meatballs and cook until browned on all sides.
  4. Remove the meatballs from the skillet and set aside.
  5. In the same skillet, add flour and stir for 1 minute. Gradually whisk in beef broth and bring to a simmer.
  6. Add the heavy cream and return the meatballs to the skillet. Simmer for 10-15 minutes until the meatballs are cooked through.
  7. Serve warm with lingonberry sauce and mashed potatoes.

Notes

  • For a lighter version, you can use ground turkey instead of beef and pork.
  • These meatballs can be frozen for later use.
  • Serve with a side of vegetables for a complete meal.
